Rider Profile: Kinetic Fitness Coaching P/1/2 Racer Rob Ehrman

This post is the 4th in the series where I will have the racers on my masters and 1/2’s teams answer some questions to help everyone learn some things about them. The following information was provided to me by Rob Ehrman the guy we have affectionally nicknamed “The Power Droid” because of his never ending ability to take strong pulls.

Rider profile

Name: Robert Ehrman

Age: 38

Occupation:

Years riding: 16

Years racing: 10

Greatest racing success: I won a cat 5 crit in downer’s grove, IL—this was back when the US pro criterium championship was still held there, and it was the same course. I had seen the pro race there many times, and riding up that last hill in the lead, in front of a big crowd was pretty exciting. It was my first win and it definitely got me hooked on bike racing.

The one that got away: Maple Hill, 2014. I was in a break of 6 or 7 guys, we had a huge gap on the field and we knew we would stay away. I felt great and was well-positioned in the long straightaway before the last turn to the finish. I was on the wheel I wanted, but about 10 meters before the last turn, I let someone move up for  no good reason—he swung wide on the final turn and nearly drove me into the gutter. I recovered and managed to get 4th, but I had really been hoping for a podium.

Indoor training tips: most people have a hard time doing indoor work in the winter. What’s your secret to make it easier?

I get to catch-up on all the TV I didn’t get to watch the rest of the year. Plus, I’m strongly motivated by a desire to avoid springtime humiliation.

Why are you excited to race with Kinetic Fitness Coaching p/b Jack’s Bicycles this year?: We’ve got some strong new additions to the team this year, which I think is gonna help us produce some great results.

2017 goal(s): World domination!

Anything else you want to add: I eat a lot of donuts, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
