Weekly Feedback

Weekly Feedback

Weekly feedback is what I consider to be the most valuable tool for assessing and understanding how an athlete’s week went. I rely heavily upon it to develop an athlete’s next program, and if I do not have it I am often left wondering how a specific, and important, workout went. These are the statements on weekly feedback that are currently on my background information form:

Weekly feedback

  1. I need feedback on how your week went to help you maximize your growth and progression.  Numbers are important, but I like to understand how the work felt to you as well.
  2. Make this report in your own style.
  3. Make sure to report anything unusual about how you felt and/or performed during the week.
  4. Make sure that you report anything that will impact your training schedule in the upcoming week.
  5. Please get it sent over to me by 5:00 on Sunday.

Points 1 – 4 remain unchanged. Point 5, however, is under going a revision. And point 6 is new:

     5. Please send over your weekly feedback by 3:00 on Sunday.

     6. If you do no get your information sent over by 3:00: The later your report gets to me after 3:00, the higher the chances are that I will be unable to send you over your program on Sunday night.

While this 2 hour difference may not seem that great, it is actually a very critical amount of time that will enable me to better get through your programs on Sunday afternoon into the evening. I have been experiencing a situation where the feedback is coming in later and later, and this is leading to a log jam of work that needs to be done, and with not enough time in the night to get through it all. If you have commitments and obligations that are going to keep you from sending out your report by 3:00 on Sunday then put it together to the best of your ability on Saturday, and send it over then.

I cannot emphasize this enough – the more in-depth your feedback is, the better I can help you progress with your training.

Please feel free to hit me up with any questions you may have.
