Getting Into Some Torque

Getting Into Some Torque

My current Cyclops is 3 years old, and though it has served me well, I expect it to fail and start leaking fluid any day.  I went preemptive strike this time and bought a new unit before it was absolutely necessary.  As much as I have enjoyed my fluid trainer I wanted something that would give me a little more push back, a little more torque, during short intense efforts. After doing some research the solution I arrived at was The LeMond Revolution trainer.  It is a 45 pound, air resistance driven, beast!  I did my 1st ride on it earlier, and it pushed back on me harder than any other unit that I have ever used.  I look forward to a long winter of grinding myself into shape while riding it.

  1. So after a couple of weeks what is the review?
    Lemond Revolution or Wahoo Kickr?

  2. Brad, I love this unit! It has all of the resistance I could ask for or need. It’s smooth, and it spools up predictably. However, when you are going full gas it is loud. Like – you are not going to be able to hear the TV loud. I have never been on a Kickr, but I hear great things about them. I did not get one because I already have a power meter, and it was about 2 x’s the cost of the Lemond. Let me know if you want to give it a try.

  3. Is it a more stable than a cycleops?

  4. Adam – this unit is ~35 pounds. When you bike is on it you are basically bolted to a tank. So, yes it is more stable.
